About RDPE

The Conference on Research & Development in Power Engineering (RDPE) has been organised biennially for the past 32 years by the Institute of Heat Engineering, Warsaw University of Technology (IHE WUT), and the Institute of Applied Research, Warsaw University of Technology (IAP WUT).

Over the years, the event has become a leading forum for presenting topics related to the power engineering sector. It has brought together academic representatives who share knowledge, present research findings, and exchange views on the European energy sector. The conference provides a framework for scientific debate that fosters the exchange of ideas, best practices, and—above all—knowledge. This is achieved by raising questions and offering answers concerning state-of-the-art power engineering, presented by experts with unquestionable expertise in the field.

In addition to facilitating global communication and the exchange of information among energy scholars, the mission of the RDPE conference is to create a platform linking business and science – a space where industry and academia connect, and where R&D partnerships and joint projects are initiated.

This year’s edition of the conference will be no different. We are inviting eminent, world-renowned scientists as well as entrepreneurs and representatives of leading companies specialising in power engineering technologies. We are convinced that RDPE 2026 will provide its participants with inspiring presentations and debates, while also strengthening business relationships for future cooperation.

Conference topics:

  • technical and financial aspects of retrofitting and reconstruction in the power sector,
  • mathematical modelling of thermal and flow processes,
  • scientific perspectives on the operation of power installations,
  • nuclear energy issues,
  • renewable energy sources (RES) and energy transition.

One of the key areas of this year’s programme will be nuclear energy, in particular Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) – a new and highly innovative field with strategic importance for energy security and competitiveness.

RDPE 2026 will also mark an important celebration for the Institute of Power Engineering -its 65th anniversary.
